City of Midwest City, Delta Marriott Hotel, Winner of the 2022 AGC Build Oklahoma Award

The Delta Marriott Hotel project included a complete renovation of 150+ hotel guest rooms, renovation of the pool, fitness area, restaurant and bar space. CMSWillowbrook built the Reed Conference Center for the City of Midwest City over 20 years ago. Later the City built a 5 story Sheraton Hotel next to the Reed Center. The city wanted to completely update their Sheraton Hotel and selected CMSWillowbrook as their CM at Risk. As their CM, we worked with the City’s team throughout the process, helping and guiding them on the design approach, cost control, budgeting, and bidding of the various bid packages. This was a public funded project and we had to follow Title 61 bidding requirements. Our team worked very hard to help the Owner (City of Midwest City) to meet their vision and goals. From the very beginning, we met with the City staff, hotel operators, and designers every single week. This entire team performed with great collaboration, making decisions quickly to keep on budget and on schedule. The quality of the finished project exceeded everyone’s expectations. A complete success on a difficult complex project. Scheduling the work was extreme with COVID 19, while the hotel was still occupied. A true challenge for contractors and owner. Most of the furniture was manufactured in Vietnam and China. COVID 19 shut down their plants for some time and tracking the shipping containers was frustrating. Many of the containers were delayed due to not being able to unload the ships in the ports due to the backup and labor shortages. With COVID 19, labor shortages, and supply chain unknowns, this project could have been a failure. It was a complete success due to the attitude of all team members, which were CMSWillowbrook, the owner, and the design team. On budget, on time, and with the quality that made everyone happy and proud of their efforts. It was a complete success due to the attitudes of all team.
