CHICKASHA – Construction has been completed on a 13,000-square-foot addition to the Grady County Criminal Justice Authority in Chickasha.

The Law Enforcement Center East Detention Facility is a minimum-security facility that will add approximately 200 inmate beds and dozens of local jobs. The jail currently has 94 full-time employees.

“We’re the envy of every sheriff in the state now,” said Jim Gerlach, Grady County jail administrator.

The project allows the old courthouse jail, which is out of compliance with state regulations, to close.

The new addition was designed by Gerlach. The final drawings were completed by Richard Stark of Prairie Rock Architects. CMSWillowbrook is the construction manager for the project.

The county will begin using the facility this summer.
