CMSWillowbrook Breaks Ground for Grady County Jail Addition

CHICKASHA, Okla. (April 18, 2018) – The Grady County Criminal Justice Authority recently broke ground on a 13,000-square-foot addition to the Grady County Jail in Chickasha.

The new minimum-security facility will add approximately 200 inmate beds and dozens of local jobs. The jail currently employs 94 full-time employees.

The addition is expected to cost $3.8 million and will be paid for by funds received from jail revenue, not tax dollars.

“We want to do this right. Nothing is worse than finishing a jail project and wishing we had done something different,” said Jim Gerlach, Grady County Jail Administrator. “This new addition will make the Grady County Jail one of the largest in the state.”

The expansion will create jobs for Chickasha and Grady County residents which in turn has the potential to provide the area with additional residents who will shop in the local communities.

The project will also allow the old courthouse jail, which is out of compliance with state regulations, to close.

The new addition was designed by Gerlach with support from the GCCJA Board and the jail staff. The final drawings were completed by Richard Stark of Prairie Rock Architects. CMSWillowbrook is the construction manager for the project.

“We are excited to get started on the new jail addition,” said Jeff McClure, CMSWillowbrook project director. “As always, we are glad to be a part of ongoing construction and growth in our community.”

The estimated completion date of the facility is spring 2019.
