OSU Edmon Low Library Cupola
CMSWillowbrook was selected by Oklahoma State University to restore the 182-foot-tall bell tower at Edmon Low Library in the heart of the Stillwater campus. The historic bell tower was built out of wood and copper around a steel core. The facade had been deteriorating for many years due to water infiltration and needed a complete restoration. This was not a typical jobsite, as there are no conventional roads to the building, only sidewalks, and the jobsite started 100 feet above the campus lawn. Construction access was only from a scaffold staircase as well as a full scaffolding of the entire spire. CMSWillowbrook stripped all the lead paint back to expose the copper, made repairs to both the copper and wood substrates, and repainted the structure. The masonry and cast stone that makes up the various balustrades were restored. Other work included reroofing, new louvers, sound system and LED lighting.
